Durst Introduces The Next
Generation Hydraulic Pump Drive

Shopiere, WI - Durst, a leading manufacturer of mechanical power transmission components, has introduced the Next Generation Hydraulic Pump Drives , built for a wide range of mobile off-highway applications such as construction, mining and material handling equipment.

These new Pump Drives have an advanced modular design (patent pending) with bearings and gears self-contained within cast iron split housings. In addition, AGMA Class 10, solid-on-shaft gears provide quiet operation and uniform alignment.

This is an incredibly standardized product: gears, bearings, seals, output groups, input groups are all common in every model, says John Phillips, Sales and Marketing Manager, Durst. This means flexibility for the customer with gear ratios accommodating a wider range of applications.

Cost and availability were the keys as we looked towards creating this new pump drive line, says Sam Finocchio, Engineering Project Manager, Durst. We wanted to come up with something that created common geometry across the different models so we could have fewer parts and provide volume opportunities for manufacturing. This part commonality will lead to Durst cutting delivery times in half.

The result is an impressive, new line with an advanced modular design. This leads to greater flexibility for both distributors and equipment manufacturers. The design also has gears that are totally interchangeable across the different models. In addition, the footprint of the new drives is interchangeable with Terrell, Federal and all major brands.

The new units are easy to service, Finocchio says, as they do not require pressing shafts into bearings and gears through the housings. Reliability, especially spline fretting and corrosion, has been addressed with a wet spline design, which provides constant oil flow across splines.

This line is comprised of nine models with horsepower ratings from 495 hp to 1025 hp and four product styles: single, two, three and four pad designs. All of the new models will be built at Durst s Shopiere, WI, manufacturing facility which has recently been redesigned and expanded.
